I believe the first song on the recording: ‘Frank Lloyd Wright the Architect,’ provides listeners with a fun introductory overview of Wright & his architecture.

VERSE 1:
Like the Reverend Martin Luther King, Wright had a dream
To redesign the cities so each neighborhood would gleam
As with Socrates and Plato, Wright had hoped to see
A world where beauty, man and nature are in harmony
CHORUS:

Frank Lloyd Wright the architect, building in the world
Dressing up the Earth and making her smile to his touch
Designing people’s houses, so they would come alive
Making life on Earth an architectural dream

VERSE 2:

Einstein changed physics with his relativity
But it took Wright to show us what a modern house could be
As with artists everywhere, Wright worked hard to make
The world a little prettier and less on the take

CHORUS:

Frank Lloyd Wright the architect, building in the world
Dressing up the Earth and making her smile to his touch
Designing people’s houses, so they would come alive
Making life on Earth an architectural dream

BRIDGE:

Frank Lloyd Wright and his architecture
How they came together as they did… we can only conjecture

VERSE 3:

Wilbur Wright and Frank Lloyd Wright were born in the same year
And left behind legacies humanity holds dear
Wright’s design ideas will continue to make waves
Releasing architects from pasts to which they have been slaves

CHORUS:

Frank Lloyd Wright the architect, building in the world
Dressing up the Earth and making her smile to his touch
Designing people’s houses, so they would come alive
Making life on Earth an architectural dream

The lyrics in the second song on the album: “The Death of Frank Lloyd Wright,” describe an unusual situation that impacted the disposition of wright’s final remains. This story is presented in a bouncy country-rap style.

VERSE 1A

Frank Lloyd Wright lived longer than most
But at 91 years, he gave up the ghost
And was placed six feet under the ground In the family plot
Where he lay near his Maemah whom he loved so much
Re-united in death after years out of touch
Together their spirits would grow, though theif bodies would rot

VERSE 1B

But his number three wife did not want to see
Frank next to another for eternity
So they dug Frank up at the time she was called to her maker
Frank’s dusty old bones were cremated then mixed
With her ashen remains, which forever fixed
From that day on Mr. Wright would never forsake her

CHORUS

In 1959 Frank Lloyd Wright was dead and buried
But they dug him up on the word of a woman he’d married
Like the many different plans he created for these lands
Wright’s final resting place was varied

VERSE 2A

His physical body is little but dust
Which may land in your eye, when you’re hit by a gust
Still, I’d say, he’s far better known than you
And he’ll be known when you pass away
As all of his drawings have something to say
And each generation will find in them “something new.”

VERSE 2B

So when your body’s lying in state
Take a good look at that Pearly Gate
And let me tell you what you’re gonna’ see
“Organic design” and a little red square
Two sure signs Wright’s working up there
Making the heavenly grace more heavenly

CHORUS

In 1959 Frank Lloyd Wright was dead and buried
But they dug him up on the word of a woman he’d married
Like the many different plans he created for these lands
Wright’s final resting place was varied

CHORUS

In 1959 Frank Lloyd Wright was dead and buried
But they dug him up on the word of a woman he’d married
Like the many different plans he created for these lands
Wright’s final resting place was varied

The third song ‘The Life of FrankLloyd Wright‘ is 12 verses (3 & 1/2 keys C, D, Dm, E) and gives more detail about Wright as an architect & a human with a chorus vocal that is reminiscent of Elvis. I think this 7:33 long song prepares listeners for the Wright song themes that follow. During the chorus we are reminded –

“About this Mr Frank Lloyd Wright There’s Quite Alot 2 Tell.

His Mother Saw Him As An Architect Who Would Excel.

The Fates Agreed He Would Succeed Without A Parallel.

So 4 Eternity The World Would Be….”

The fourth song ‘Prairie House‘ shares the story of a person obsessed with their own home – a prairie house – designed by Wright. Some have called its vibe punkish. One person thought it reminded them of ‘Yellow ‘Submarine.’

“A Monster of a Building Created by Wright’s Hand;

Spread Across the Prairie on Fertile Midwest Land.

and Now, from Architecture

it’s the Thing that I Demand!”

“The song we called ‘Reggae Wright‘ is a song that shares anecdotes about 3 of Wright’s buildings: the Empire Hotel, FallingWater and the Guggenheim Museum. “All materials were ethereal under Wright’s guiding light.” The song also features many La-La-La’s.

“In New York, Amidst the Grime,

Visit the Guggenheim,

Up the Ramp You Will Climb,

In A Building So Sublime.”

The Frank Lloyd Wright Twist‘ describes, in terms of Wright’s architectural language, how and why to do this dance (FUN). Even architects can do this dance!

“The Architects are Dancing to the Frank Lloyd Wright Twist

Like a Wright Building It’s Hard to Resist.

The Steps to this Dance, of Building Terms Consist,

It’s Fun if you’re Lonely or After you’ve Been Kissed…”

A Bad Twist of Fate‘ has an opening verse that certainly reveals a couple low points in Wright’s life. Yet throughout the song the enduring features of his life and work prevail in this song (in 3/4 time) such that, during each chorus, a toast to Wright is proposed – to honor his memory. First written in 1979 this song was created to serve in part to simulate a rousing party time drinking song.

“A Toast, to Frank Lloyd Wright

The Buildings He Left Us Provide Us Delight.

Many Years Buried, but Not Out of Sight;

We Honor His Memory by Drinking All Night”

The Tour that Rocks the Nation‘ is a song with an awesome electric guitar presence; all due to Frank Wiencek. “It happens here. One day of the year. WRIGHT PLUS!” *** BeWare Shredded Guitar

“WRIGHT PLUS! The tour that ROCKS the nation.

WRIGHT PLUS! The Prairie School Sensation.

WRIGHT PLUS! It Knows No Moderation;

No! There’s Nothing Ordinary ’bout These Buildings on the Prairie…. “

Finally, ‘Wright Rock and Roll‘ is a fun song in the Chuck Berry – Johnny B. Goode style. However, the lyrics are fascinating snippets of common personal observations and feelings that many visitors to Wright’s prarie houses (and other buildings) experience.

“Wright Rock and Roll is an edifice of sound.

The rhythms are of nature, emerging from ground.

It’s harmonies are Eastern, with powers to confound;

the melodies from Sullivan with whom he hung around.”
